Can I claim remedial massage on private health insurance?
Yes, treatments are claimable on most private health extras cover.
What's the difference between remedial massage and relaxation massage?
Relaxation massage is general and whole-body, aimed at how you feel during and after. Remedial massage is assessment-led and targeted - it identifies which structures are producing your pain and treats those specifically. It can be uncomfortable in places, and it's aimed at changing the problem rather than easing it for an afternoon.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on how long the problem has been there. An acute issue often responds in one to three sessions. Something chronic that's built over years usually needs a longer run, and we'd discuss a realistic plan at your first appointment rather than committing you to a package up front.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing. You'll be appropriately draped throughout and only the area being treated is uncovered.
